My moosEmail isn't working and its late so I'm going to post this here for moosey, and for anyone else who is interested...
Eggy to do :
* frontpage pic and link
* email a friend
* browsable directory of possible plants : extra plant_type field for moosey to populate?
* Do we want to keep the long description hidden? Would having a long possible plant list spoil the fun? hmmm..
* fix a couple of possible security problems and optimise code for speed.
* database indexes!
* build question dumper so moosey can spell and grammar and case and tense and register check (phew!) questions in context.
Moosey to do :
* better intro page - we aren't explaining quiz in simple enough terms and giving all the details. E.g. 12 questions, start again button, email a friend. short descriptions and updates as you go, long description at end. Merge both of the question 1 banter text and use on this page, its wasted where it is at the moment
graphically - the question page layout with its thin central column doesn't allow for much text or big pics and the page looks cramped. Another reason to move the intro back a level to a normal moosey size page with big pics and link from there to Q1.
intro page links into Q1 question page which except for the odd bit of moosey banter at top stays the same until a...
* Much better ending page text - current one is too weak. Doesn't feel like a fitting end. Some clipboard pics might help here. Will add your signature to make it more personal? also need to mention the forums on the final page as a place to discuss what plant you are...
* Another About page describing how the quiz works in moosey terms, numbers of possible plants, category adjectives, maths etc. I would like people to see how much effort has gone into it if they are interested.
* when we have this done, up and running can go back and add multimedia questions with sound and pics. and more Yes / No questions. I like an occasional break from the standard acbd Q/A format. Easy on the moosey specific questions - If this takes off not everyone who takes the test will know B-Puss from a Begonia.
a few thoughts:
Should we allow people to submit their own questions? (questions would require moosey approval before going live)
use a clock face for question numbers instead of no's 1-12 - could tie in 12 oclock with "times up!" themed text etc? might give more continuity. I shouldn't mention this, i spent B****Y ages sorting those little numbered boxes out!

And what on earth makes Eggy think that I'm going to read it any more carefully, just because he's published it? Aargh!
OK OK I'll read my instructions. |

Tree peony7 Feb '07 11:35 pm
I turned out to be a tree peony, with a lovely red pic attached. Just as well: the only tree peony I know is pale yellow, and has a name that could have got me locked up as a communist in this country 20 years ago. Although I've had three of them lurking sulkily from seed I planted 12 years ago, they have produced 2 flowers between them, a process which frightened them so that they suffered 50% die-back. However I tend to be of the 'nother chance mentality, and would never, for instance, rip out all my flaxes because they collapsed, like You-know-who did. (And they were natives - these are just blerrie lurking commies...)
So I was relieved to see that tree peonies indicate drive and pride and such like positive attributes... otherwise I might have been the first to take offense at the quiz...

Moonlight Climbing Rose8 Feb '07 7:33 am
I am definitely a rose (obviously) as that's all I seem to be able to come up with. What's the old saying about a rose by any other name (Faith perhaps). Well, my virtual rose garden will be so beautiful.
And thanks to my soul-mate, Liza, for her happy, cheerful self; and to my friend Moosey (and her talented son Eggy) for coming up with such a fun pastime for us.
P. S. I haven't forgotten the promise to look up proper names. I have made myself a short list for homework. |

Contemplating holding a bouquet today and these are what I gathered:
