How in the world did I miss your Winter thread?!
25 Aug '08 11:22 am Jack I believe your pictures here are the best fall and winter color pictures are the best you've ever taken. So many incredible for color including both panaramas. Apparently taken back in May or June! I must have been distracted back then by our upcoming trip to England - which I was still planning. The photo in the last set of the bench below the beech makes me feel as though I am there. An inviting place to sit and quite a romantic one at that. That photo over the water at dusk is such an intense blue. I can see why you so love this season.
However my favorite photo by far has got to be the one taken out over the pond through that multipane window. That really frames the view so well! God, I'd love to have a window with a view out over my garden. Maybe this winter. By now you must be getting early bulbs up and other early hints of spring. I suspect you are off on a well deserved end of term trip or else completely consumed by the play.
For myself, school starts back up in three days and I admit to looking forward to it. Time to feel useful again and there are interesting, new curricular challenges. Last year we drastically changed up both what and how we taught Algebra, much more theoretical and high level. I broke it down by what I thought were the essential questions and students seemed to do even better on this more ambitious Algebra course than they had on the more simplistic one we used to teach. Now we've gotten test results which are drastically improved. Even the groups traditionally lowest here more than doubled in the percent who tested proficient and above. So now I'm eager to refine this new approach. Okay, no more shop talk for the guy about to push off to new horizons.
