The civet is gorgeous. Wonderful pics, especially the second. Interesting foliage too. (Btw the link didn't work.)
Best wishes for Wednesday Gordon.

Winter lingers and I love it11 Aug '08 5:00 am
We have had - so far, and touch wood - an uneventful winter: night temperatures were low, but there were no real dramatic or horridly cold spells. This morning after a cloudy night, the temperature was 8 degrees Celsius! That is 5 up on the previous night which was less cold than the norm. However there was no doubt about today being a wintery day, even if the buds are pushing...
We're on the final lap with Romeo and Juliet, with public final dress and performances starting tomorrow week. Next Wednesday my Rotary Club have moved their meeting to the theatre. Eek! Hold thumbs for us!
And Gordon - I'm hoping all goes well for you too this coming Wednesday!

Loving the Wintery Pics11 Aug '08 11:02 am
Very nice pics Jack - I love the green water and the skeleton trees. Good luck for R&J... Is it the 'Romeo Romeo, where for art thou Romeo' type production or is it a modern interpretation?

Good Luck!11 Aug '08 7:08 pm
Hi, Jack;
Good luck with Romeo & Juliette!
Things went very well on Wednesday and lots of realtors showed up. So far, I have had 2 appointments for house showings but on both occasions they cancelled at the last moment. In future I plan to tell them that I'm not leaving until I see the whites of their eyes!! You see, I'm not supposed to be here when potential buyers check out the place. That, of course, interrupts my schedule for the day, so I don't see why I should go out of my way only to be stood up! I'm sure things will improve once the weather cools, as right now it's so hot out that everyone who can go there is at the beach! Nobody really wants to spend time looking at houses!
I loved your latest pictures - to think that soon it'll be autumn here and we'll be looking forward to bits of frost at night. The frogs are migrating now, and volunteers have been transporting them in buckets across the nearby freeway as they haven't all figured out that they have their own tunnel under the road. Hundreds of thousands of the little creatures move each year from the marshes where they hatched on one side of the road to the rivers on the other side where they live out the rest of their lives, and very many are killed in the process - very sad. And with the cooler nights, there will be many frogs and toads sitting on the roadways to keep warm at night. Lots of them get run over as well. I hate driving after dark at this time of year for this reason.
I took a few pictures of the garden today and I'll try to post them on my thread later tonight.
Cheers!!

Nice bare bones, Jack.12 Aug '08 3:50 am
The white 'bones' of those trees reflected in the milky green water are very attractive. I sure like the way your photos always fill out the screen Jack. Is there a secret to that? I usually load my photos close to the size limit allowed but they aren't screen sized.
I've also wondered what sort of R&J you're putting on. I can't remember what age thespians you work with. Mine tend to be 13 or 14. I don't have them doing any acting though there are always a couple who do a good 'clown' without prompting, but no more than I deserve karmacally.
I've been fussing in the garden a little in between gearing up for the start of another school year. I went to the August plant sale at the San Francisco Botanical Garden this past weekend and bought eight nifty new plants. I got all but one settled. Other than a 50% brown lawn, the garden is looking okay. I'm toying with the idea of planting streaks of thyme and lipia in the those parts of the lawn that are brown. Might as well make it look deliberate.
Happy Winter to Jack and the rest of you down under!
