Gardens through the seasons27 Jul '06 2:31 am
This is my first post, so I am feeling my way. I have been doing a photo study of my various garden areas throughout the season beginning in early April. I wanted to see how the gardens changed through the growing season. Here in Alabama, USA, our gardens begin to awaken very early in the year (sometimes as early as January for bulbs, etc.). This year had been a good one up until late June when our weekly rainfall totatals suddenly plummeted and we moved quickly into a draught. As a consequence, the gardens have suffered. I am including some pictures of my mixed perenniel border which has been in place for about six or seven years now; a small meditation garden with all white flowers that has been in place for about four years, a new rose berm just begun last fall; one pic of a bed containing hydrangeas and hostas that I have been working on for about three years; the newest bed, a memorial garden for my inlaws that was just installed in early June; and finally a new gate we just completed (with a sneakey picture of my dog Willie). I hope you will enjoy the pictures and not find my poor writing too boring.

P. S. I mislabeled the first two pictures, but hopefully you will figure out that they are not the rose berm, but the meditation garden.

As I said, I am feeling my way, and not too well. Somehow my attachments didn't come through. I will try again with only the April pictures. Will try to add the others later if this works.

Here goes. I have reduced the size of the pics, so will try to attach. Cross your fingers, toes and eyes please.
Ureka! I think we have lift off.

Hello there, Faith.27 Jul '06 3:22 am
Welcome to the forum. I am excited to see your photos. To have them post correctly they should be the right size. Are you familiar with re-sizing photos. I reduce mine to 640 by 480 and I know others here use 800 by 600. Post your photos in the order you want them displayed and don;t worry about them appearing in the posting window with the first photo at the bottom of the pile as this is just the way it works to pre-stack the posts. You will catch on. If you need help resizing photos, just ask and I will tell you an easy way.

Hi Christopher,
Thanks for the offer of help. I did resize the pictures, but they look awful, so I must have done something wrong. I will try your suggestions.

WELL WORTH THE WAIT27 Jul '06 6:50 am
Faith, your gardens are lovely and the photos were well worth the wait.
I adore that 'old looking' gate. Does it have a history or just look as if it should? do you have plans for Honeysuckle, Morning Glories, or climbing roses, etc. around the gate? It's beautiful just the way it is, but that little overhang/roof seems to cry for flowering something.
Looking forward to more photos of your gardens.

Such nice gardens!27 Jul '06 7:12 am
Your gardens are lovely, Faith. You have some good room and you have made superb use of it. I like the gate and all the fencing. Looks real nice. The rose berm is a particular favorite as I am about to build my own rose garden off the new front deck, once it is completed.
The years of care and patience really show. I hope you will post more photos of the individual plants and features.
I like what I see.
